The Center of His Word

Q: What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
A: Psalms 117

Q: What is the longest chapter in the Bible?
A: Psalms 119

Q: Which chapter is in the center of the Bible?
A: Psalms 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118
Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118
Add these numbers up and you get 1188.

Q: What is the center verse in the Bible?
A: Psalms 118:8

Q: Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives?
The next time someone says they would like to find God's perfect will for their lives and that they want to be in the center of His will, just send them to the center of His Word!

Psalms 118:8
"It is better to trust in the LORD
than to put confidence in man."

Now isn't that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)? When things get tough, always remember... Faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it !!

God Bless You!

Clouds Of Chaos

As the threatening "Clouds of Chaos"
Gather in man's muddled mind;
While he searches for an answer
He alone can never find;

May God turn our vision skyward
So that we can see above ...
The gathering clouds of darkness,
And behold God's brightening love.

For today we're facing problems
Man alone can never solve,
For it takes much more than genius
To determine and resolve,

The conditions that confront us
All around on every side,
Daily mounting in intensity
Like the restless, rising tide.

But we'll find new strength and wisdom
If instead of proud resistance ...
We humbly call upon the Lord
And seek divine assistance;

For the spirit can unravel
Many tangled, knotted threads
That defy the skill and power
Of the world's best hands and heads.

For the plans of growth and progress
Of which we all have dreamed,
Cannot survive materially
Unless the spirit is redeemed.

So as another New Year dawns,
Let us seek the Lord in prayer
And place our future hopes and plans
Securely in God's care.

~ Helen Steiner Rice ~

You Are Blessed

If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare,
especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.

Angels Explained by Children

I only know the names of two angels. Hark and Harold.
~ Gregory, 5

Everybody 's got it all wrong. Angels don't wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it.
~ Olive, 9

It's not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to heaven, and then there's still the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to wear those angel clothes.
~ Matthew, 9

Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to go do something else.
~ Mitchell, 7

My guardian angel helps me with math, but he's not much good for science.
~ Henry, 8

Angels don't eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows!!!
~ Jack, 6

Angels talk all the way while they're flying you up to heaven. The main subject is where you went wrong before you got dead.
~ Daniel, 9

When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath and counts to ten. And when he lets out his breath, somewhere there's a tornado.
~ Reagan, 10

Angels have a lot to do and they keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window and leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go north for the winter.
~ Sara, 6

Angels live in cloud houses made by God and his son, who's a very good carpenter.
~ Jared, 8

All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses and boys didn't go for it.
~ Antonio, 9

My angel is my grandma who died last year. She got a big head start on helping me while she was still down here on earth.
~ Katelynn, 9

Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets. And if they don't make the animals get better, they help the child get over it.
~ Vicki, 8

What I don't get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them.
~ Sarah, 7

Ten Commandments For A Great Christmas
  1. Thou shalt not rush Christmas but remember to celebrate Advent. A time of watching and preparing for the King.
  2. Thou shalt keep Christ at the center of Christmas. Don’t allow yourself to be
overwhelmed by the commercialism of the season. Resolve to read one of the
Gospels during December and meditate upon what it means that Christ came
    into the world.
  3. Thou shalt prepare early. Don’t wait until the last minute to try to get into the
    Christmas spirit.
  4. Thou shalt make Christmas a family time. Do things together: decorate the
tree, play games, bake cookies, shop, attend church, write cards, have Advent
    devotions, carol shut-ins.
  5. Thou shalt remember those who are less fortunate. Contribute significantly to
    those in need.
  6. Thou shalt give they self with every gift. Put some thought into the gifts you purchase. Give a gift that represent your love. If possible make a gift.
  7. Thou shalt put music into Christmas. Listen to traditional Christmas music, attend church and enjoy the choir anthems. Attend the Children’s S.S. program. Sing carols as a family.
  8. Thou shalt slow down. Remember, Christmas is supposed to be a season of
    peace, not stress.
  9. Thou shalt remember to worship. The church is the place you are most likely to
be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. It can be busy at church for
willing volunteers too...but remember to prepare for....Jesus’ Birth!
  10. Thou shalt receive Christ into thy life. Don’t just talk about the Christ of Christmas. Receive him into your life as Savior, Lord and King.
To say yes to one instant is to say yes to all of existence

Now Lady Gregory was Yeats' patron, this Irish person, and though I'd never seen her image, I was just sure that this was the face of Lady Gregory.

So I'm walking along, and Lady Gregory turns to me and says, "Let me explain to you the nature of the universe. Philip K. Dick is right about time, but he's wrong that it's 50 A.D. Actually, there's only one instant, and it's right now, and it's eternity. And it's an instant in which God is posing a question, and that question is basically, 'Do you want to be one with eternity? Do you want to be in heaven?' And we're all saying, 'No thank you. Not just yet.' And so time actually is just this constant saying No to God's invitation. That's what time is, and it's no more 50 A.D. than it's 2001. There's just this one instant, and that's what we're always in."

Then she tells me that actually, this is the narrative of everyone's life. That behind the phenomenal differences, there is but one story, and that's the story of moving from No to Yes. All of life is like, "No thank you, no thank you, no thank you," then ultimately it's, "Yes, I give in, yes, I accept, yes, I embrace." That's the journey. Everyone gets to Yes in the end, right?

— Richard Linklater, excerpt from the movie "Waking Life"
